About TedI live in Bracknell in Berkshire which is about 35miles west of London. I am originally from the North East of England and have lived in Bracknell since 1991 as it was a convenient location for my work at Windsor Castle about 10 miles away, close enough to commute and far enough to get right away from 'work' I have two collie bitches, Finty aged 7+ and Missy 4+ who take up a lot of my time. The Boss at home is Sue ( aren`t all women? ) who is responsible for my interest with animals and dogs & cats in particular. We have had a number of pets over the years and when I first met Sue she had a dog called Barny who was a cross between a Flat Coated Retriever and a Irish Setter,he was a wonderful animal who the kids loved and grew up with, but sadly he died of cancer aged 14 a few years back and is sorely missed. Sue also had a cat called Phoebe who didn`t take to males very well, I had a few war wounds from her little swipes at me in the beginning but we became very close and it ended up that her last ritual before going to sleep for the night was to jump up on the bed and lie on top of me for a few minutes of petting and stroking, those claws of hers still were razor sharp though and if I forgot to pull the quilt up tight to my neck then I got a little reminder as she purred away and dug in (Ouch!!!) Phoebe went to sleep forever a few weeks back, she died in my arms very peacefully aged 18+ and like Barny will be greatly missed,we had her humanely cremated and have her ashes in a cat casket which stays in her favourite spot in our house and reminds us of her everyday. We have also had a rabbit and numerous guinea pigs as well as another kitten/cat called Jasper who was unfortunately run over and killed one night while out on the prowl. Each and every animal has brought their own personality into my family and all will be remembered fondly forever.
